CLAUDIA BROTONS

FRAMING THE FUTURE OF SIGNATURE ACCESSORIES

One day, Claudia Brotons left the world of economics to pursue her dream of making a name for herself in fashion. Today, her eyewear epitomizes the cutting-edge style worn by celebrities and influencers like Blanca Miró, Leandra Medine, and Uma Thurman. A self-proclaimed fan of Prunès Jewellery, Claudia welcomes us into her studio to talk about fashion, jewelry, and inspiration.

(Question) Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your career path?

(Claudia) I’m a 37-year-old woman from Barcelona. I studied Economics and Business Administration, but spent my summers in London taking fashion courses, which was my real passion. My first job was as a buyer at ZARA in A Coruña, and then I moved to Massimo Dutti, but I needed a more creative role. After two years, I left my job to move to Milan and do a master’s in Art Direction and Styling at Istituto Marangoni and a Master’s in Accessory Design at LCI Barcelona. After graduating, I started working as an accessory designer at Uterqüe. Ten years ago, my partner, Juan, suggested I design a collection of glasses to create a new brand, KALEOS. What started as a small project gradually grew, and before we knew it, ten years had passed.

(Q) What influenced you when you started your brand?

(Claudia) Honestly, at first, I thought I’d get bored with glasses or that it would be a limited product in terms of design, but it’s a product that hooks you, with endless avenues to explore.

(Q) What inspired you for this SS24 collection?

(Claudia) I love working with shapes, playing with them until I find combinations that are harmonious, fresh, and groundbreaking. Once I come up with shapes that I find interesting, I focus on the collection’s colors and then select color combinations for each frame.

(Q) How do you hope people feel when choosing your creations?

(Claudia) Our glasses are different, special, and very well thought out, and you can feel that. When you see someone wearing a beautiful pair of glasses, you notice. In the end, glasses say a lot about the person wearing them.

(Q) Who would be your dream "Kaleos" person?

(Claudia) People who appreciate design and well-made things.

I THINK THERE IS JEWELLERY FOR ALL OCCASIONS, I'M ONE OF THOSE WHO IF I DON'T WEAR EARRINGS AND RINGS, I FEEL LIKE I'M MISSING SOMETHING.

(Q) On what occasions do you find jewelry essential?

(Claudia) I think there’s jewelry for every occasion. For me, if I’m not wearing earrings and rings, I feel like something’s missing. I have my essentials for everyday, and if it’s a special occasion, I like to be a bit bolder and vary depending on the outfit and the moment.

(Q) What is the most special piece in your jewelry box?

(Claudia) That’s a tough question… a solitaire my grandmother gave me, my engagement ring from Juan, my wedding ring, a ring that symbolizes our family (Juan, me, and our three children)… there are many pieces that were gifts for special occasions, giving them unique value.

(Q) Is there a particular product from PRUNÉS that you love?

(Claudia) A few months ago, I bought the Diamon Tone earrings and the Whisper Earcuff, and I haven’t taken them off since. They’ve become my everyday earrings. I love them!
